Do what you love. Love what you do.
Is it a tagline?
It’s far more than just a tagline…
It’s a way of life. And it’s my single most important piece of advice to share with the world.
Till now I have lived my life on my conditions. Good or bad all decisions were mine and I have no one to blame. Why? Because I chose to do what I loved to do and not what I was told to do.
It’s that simple. Sometimes to do what we love to do we may have to break a few hearts as we unconsciously trample all over their expectations. But if you aren’t doing it to hurt someone and just following your dreams I guess it pretty much justifies your act.
No point dragging around a job like a dead body. It eventually starts stinking and you would lose the will to get up and go to work.
Some wise person once said that if in the morning you are not excited to get up and go to work… Then by God, You are in the wrong profession. I am a firm believer in this concept.
Some people work for profit and some are happy to be a part of non-profit organizations like NGOs. They want real purpose in their lives, and they’re not shy about it. They have a vision for making the world a better place before they even ask how much the job pays. They want to make a difference.
Why look beyond? I have instances in my own house.
My son took up Commerce as a subject in XI &XII to fulfill the expectations of his grandparents but he struggled in courses like Business Studies and Accounts. He was never very good at math and still I pushed him into it as Humanities wasn’t considered good enough for boys by my parents! Accounting was the worst for him.
When I saw my son struggling I vowed to myself that I won’t allow anyone to push him further. After school, he switched out of the Commerce field altogether, because I knew he just wasn’t cut out for it. It wasn’t too late to mend ways to build a career.
Thank God for that because it made him realize there is a great place for him in the hospitality industry. I may not be a numbers person, but I am a people person and I stood by my son to do what he loved and let go of what we wanted him to be.
Do What You Love and Love What You Do. Never change that slogan for the company you keep or for your relatives. I live my life by those words. Unless you are passionate about what you are doing in life or what you want to do in life you won’t get anywhere and will always lose the zest midways. One thing that I have realized in my life’s experiences is that no one can make you to like or dislike anything or any job. It has to come from within you.
Whatever you do if your heart and soul isn’t in it then you’ll never get the kick you need to go ahead and eventually you’ll land up disgruntled and dissatisfied with your job, your relationships and all the people around you. your day will start with cribbings and end with cribbings. you have to love what you are doing only then can you do justice to the assignment that you have in your hand.
You may not be a good singer, but if you love to sing then sing anyway you would like to even if it is bathroom singing with a towel in your hands. There is nothing in this world that’ll make you happier than bathroom singing.
My goals were to be a good mentor, a good mother, a good wife, and a good employee. Life has never been perfect for me, I had to work my ass off for everything I wanted but today I can honestly say I’m getting it all done. Along the way, I discovered that I could write Poems and Stories….and I did just that and am here in front of you telling another story…
“Who would have thought the best way for me to accomplish my goals was by chasing my dreams?”
