Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah star Mandar Chandwadkar, who plays the role of Bhide on the acclaimed Sony SAB TV show, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Presently, the show’s narrative is about Bhide’s character and his family; however, with him catching the dangerous virus, the producers have to abruptly move the show’s focus.
Bhide aka Mandar’s on-screen wife, Sonalika Joshi Aka Mrs. Madhavi Bhide, and on-screen daughter Palak Sindhwani aka Sonu, were shooting with him just prior to his testing positive.
A source friendly to the production revealed to ETimes, “Mandar was encountering mild symptoms of cold since past one week, those complicated slowly- and then he went for the COVID examination when his physician recommended him. Little did he assume that it would confirm positive.”
Mandar admitted on how he must have caught the virus and said,
“My indications of cold had truly gone away, however abruptly yesterday, I could not detect camphor in puja. I felt I had lost the sense of smell and got myself examined. Upon receiving the test, I promptly informed the ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ production unit that I shall stay absent from the shoot till I am absolutely alright again. Yes, I am COVID positive, but I am exercising every imaginable care. As for my isolation, I am arranging for it at my residence only. I have spoken to Sonalika and Palak too to get themselves examined. Rishi, an AD on the production, had a slight cold, and I asked him too, he has mercifully tested negative. I have an oximeter at the house. I am reviewing my oxygen levels every 3 hours and of course, my temperature too. But overall, I am fine. I am browsing books, watching a lot of TV, and taking vitamin pills, you can call it a short holiday for me.”says Mandar
